Job Title: Laboratory Coordinator-Early Infant Diagnosis For Hiv/Sample Referral System (CHPL)

Key functions:
•Developing and strengthen a comprehensive national programme of early infant diagnosis for HIV (EID) and the laboratory specimen transport hub network
•Overseeing the packaging and distribution of all materials for the EID programme/specimen hub transport network to participating laboratories
•Coordinating collection, analysis and dissemination EID reports to peripheral laboratories
•Developing strategic, business and operational plans and budgets for the EID
•Provide technical advice to the head of CPHL on matters regarding EID and the specimen referral transport hub network
•Overseeing the operation of EID database at CPHL including archiving of the EID samples
•Participating in capacity building activities for the EID programme
•Monitoring and evaluating EID activities
Qualification:
•Must possess a bachelors degree in medical laboratory sciences or advanced diploma in medical laboratory technology from a recognized university
•Must possess a masters degree in molecular biology or microbiology or parasitological or virology from a recognized university
Experience:
•Must have at least 9 years relevant working experience five of which should have been in at national reference or research laboratory
Competences:
•Demonstrated ability in good laboratory practices/laboratory quality management systems
•Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff
•High level of concentration, alertness, and adaptability to change and able pay attention to details
•Leadership, communication, writing and interpersonal skills
•Demonstrated knowledge of strategic, planning and understanding of the strategic direction of MoH and of PEPRAR programmes
