Job Title: Senior Laboratory Technologist – Laboratory Quality Assurance

Key functions:
•Supporting implementation of policies, guidelines and protocols related to laboratory quality assurance standards including a comprehensive national external quality assessment scheme, and laboratory accreditation program
•Production, packing, distributing and evaluating all quality assessment commodities to the participating laborites
•Collecting analyzing and disseminating external quality assessment reports to various participating laboratories
•Participating in identification of quality gaps in laboratory services in the country and develop measures to address these gaps
•Assisting in the development of the unit operational plans and budgets
•Participating in capacity building activities for laboratory quality assurance
•Coaching and mentoring other laboratory staff in quality assurance procedures/practices
Qualifications:
•Must possess a bachelors degree in medical laboratory technology or advanced diploma in medical laboratory technology
•Possession of a post graduate degree in a laboratory related discipline such as microbiology, pathology would be an added advantage
•Must have a training in at post graduate level
•Training in lot quality sampling methodology is durable
Experience:
•At least 6 years relevant working experience in a regional referral or national referral or research laboratory
Competences:
•Demonstrated ability in good laboratory practices
•Ability to train and supervise laboratory staff in laboratory QA/QC
•Communication and good interpersonal skills
