Qualifications:            

(i)         A PhD

(ii)        A minimum of three (3) years of proven research.

(iii)       A minimum of three (3) refereed publications

(iv)       At least two research reports

Area of Specialization

A Candidate must fall within the current area of specialization:

African Political Thought

Political Economy

African History, with a particular interest in Pre-Colonial African History

Socio-Cultural Anthropology

Literary and Cultural Studies

Duties and Responsibilities

1.         Publish at least one article a year.

2.         Teach at least two MISR graduate courses annually

3.         Participate in a MISR core research project

4.         Prepare and submit an annual activity report

5.         Actively participate in service to the Institute and University

6.         Participate in workshops run by the Institute

7.         Supervision of Students to completion

8.         Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Director.

Tenure of appointment:  Five (5) years renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance following the appraisal.
