The Ministry of Works and Transport operates Mt. Elgon Labour-based Training Centre (MELTC) as a project responsible for capacity building in the application of Labour-based Technology (LBT) in the (reconstruction and maintenance of roads. MELTC carries out both classroom and field training.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carrying out Training Needs Assessment of participants that will require to be trained;
- Preparing lesson plans and materials for the particular types of training;
- Prepare comprehensive field practical activities for the various cadres of participants undertaking training;
- Deliver classroom training;
- Carry out field demonstrations to trainees on MELTC model roads and demonstration structures;
- Provide technical support to trainees in the field in terms of outreaches to ensure that road works are being executed to standard;
- Assist engineering staff in District Local Governments to design, prepare bills of quantities and price works for roads/structures in which MELTC is involved;
- Have oversight of the MELTC demonstration roads/ structures;
- Design, prepare bills of quantities and price items for MELTC model roads and structures;
- Prepare reports on all technical activities in which he/she is engaged; and
- Perform any other duties that are assigned by the Principal.
Requirement:
- Qualifications Applicants should be Ugandans holding at least a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable University. He/she should have at least 5 years of experience preferably in road works. Possession of a Masters Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage. Duty Station

- Duration The contract is a three-year performance based contract that is renewable basing on proven performance. Terms of Assignment Successful candidates will be employed according to Government of Uganda terms for locally employed personnel.
