Job Title: Training Coordinator
The Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) has signed a cooperative agreement with the U.S Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to strengthen Institute capacity through the management and coordination of laboratory surveillance, epidemiology, public health evaluations and training in Uganda under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Under this cooperation, UVRI intends to recruit the following personnel on a one-year contract to be renewed depending on availability of funds. All positions are based at Entebbe.
Training Coordinator
Key duties and responsibilities:
Manage all training activities and related activities under this Project.
Supervise all visiting workers, interns, students, lab trainees and medical students and act as a point of contact for administrative support.
Undertake training needs analysis for the project.
Develop relationships with external training providers and other employees to deliver and improve relevant training.
Produce and deliver internal training to staff members including supervision, HR management, communication, plus policy and procedure appraisals.
Work with the HR Manager to develop and deliver an effective staff induction program.
Preparation of training correspondences and reports and undertake projects as and when required.
Maintain files and databases on all studentship, monitor course progress, and ensure that fees are paid on time.
Perform or advice on any other duty related to training.
Requirement:
A degree in medical lab technology in addition to Masters Degree/PG Diploma in training, social sciences, public health, or any other related field.
Good and demonstrable management, coordination, planning and evaluation experience.
At least four years work experience in organizing, planning and implementing training and capacity building activities preferably in a reputable Bio-medical Organisation.
Good facilitation and communication skills.
Good and documented .experience in development of training materials, power point presentations and implementation of training sessions.
Strong teamwork and team-building skills
Experience in developing training curricula
Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
