Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Defining technical solutions based upon the Customer requirement with MSA scope.
Assessing server, storage and infrastructure sizing including capacity and performance.
Problem & root cause identification of critical and reoccurring issues.
Best practice implementation in domain.
Defining data center hardware configurations to meet application requirements including servers, storage, data center networks, and load balancing and clustering services based upon according to architecture standards.
Reviewing and evaluating current provided services, including monitoring, for service improvements. This activity will include updating event thresholds and turning event and incident correlation.
Provide technical oversight and support teams by leading high level/impact incidents to drive to conclusion and add to root cause analysis. Also may be responsible for the development of resolutions for systemic issues.
Establishing and maintaining a relationship with the client’s GM & CIO and technical leadership to understand the client’s technology landscape, business needs and direction.
Working with IT teams to ensure application requirements are understood and translated to technical solutions. Technical solutions should consider the operational support requirements to ensure they meet operational standards.
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The DBA should have experience with integration of heterogeneous technology environments as well as maintaining operational management across coexistent multiple generations of technology in an enterprise data center environment
Possess seven or more years experience as Database Administrator, three of which as a DBA consultant.
Ability to set direction and lead technical staff to design and deliver Service Improvement projects.
Excellent written and oral communication skills to interface with Sr. Managers
High level understanding of Oracle 10g/11g, RAC, Dataguard, Grid, Golden Gate, Replication tools, Oracle Steams, Oracle RMAN, Unix Shell scripting, Data warehouse Exadata, with operational, architectural & Implementation support with 7+ years’ experience
Architectural, Implementation and operational knowledge of Microsoft Sql Server, MySql database
Migration experience of large databases from cross platform.
Having knowledge of Unix/ Linux/ Solaris
Should be aware of Exadata X2-2 onwards
Exadata Installation and patching and upgrade
Cell restarts and patching and upgrades
ILOM management and patching and upgrades
Implementing SOX compliance for databases
Enabling audits
Installation of Oracle databases and client on Unix/Windows servers.
Implementing CPU and PSU patches
Managing users with profile management.
Generating AWR reports per requirement and to optimize performance.
Auditing and tracing session for performance review
Cloning database for development users
Troubleshoot and create dblinks as and when required
Tuning various application sql statements using various hints or indexes in the environment.
Rebuilding and recompiling Invalid database objects whenever necessary.
Exporting database using datapump and normal exp when required.
Using flat file loader utility sqlldr to load large text data in database tables.
Creating automated scripts using shell script and PL/SQL procedures to automate server and application checks.
Performing end to end application trace to identify any performance issue.
Managing tablespaces for users with quota
Upgrading Oracle databases to new release
Managing Real Application Clusters 10G and 11G R1 and R2
Installing RAC clusters on ASM and raw devices
Schema reorganization using 10G new features
Database optimization using stats updation etc
Writing shell scripts to automate routine jobs
Changing character set per requirement of client.
Interacting with Oracle support for severity issues and technical support
Performance tuning of instance and sql queries
Installation of Oracle 11G R1 and R2 RAC databases on AIX
Cross platform migrations from HP-Unix to AIX.
Installing, Managing and Monitor Oracle Real Application Cluster nodes over Oracle 10G.
Installation oracle software in non-interactive mode through putty in Solaris and AIX servers.
Patching to new version of oracle software and creation of database manually.
Identifying performance issues using ADDM, AWR and Grid control utilities.
Implementing Transparent Application Failover (TAF) functionality for application in RAC.
Monitor and automate database growth projection as part of Capacity Management.
Up gradation and patching of database in QA and production environment.
Tuning server parameters to maintain optimized performance of database.
Partition real tables in database to use table data efficiently maintaining database performance.
Tuning various application sql statements using various hints or indexes in the environment.
Rebuilding and recompiling Invalid database objects whenever necessary.
Exporting database using datapump and normal exp when required.
Implementing Backup strategies like RMAN, Hot Backup, Cold Backup & Logical Backup and automating them using shell scripts which are later transferred to DLT
Handle and Optimize Export/Import of Data and load data using SQL* loader
Manage Users, Roles and User Profiles, change the Database User Schema
Debugging and troubleshooting the oracle errors using Sql text, Sql Monitor and Toad.
Creating and managing tablespaces for availability of databases
Performing daily administrative and performance tuning tasks like monitoring the Diagnostic files, Background Trace files and Users Trace files.
Hardware sizing – Capacity planning for the DB & OS Parameters like CPU, Memory & Disk, redo log, archive logs for new project requirement.
