Cheshire Services Uganda (CSU) is a local nongovernmental organization working in the field of disability arid development CSU is a member of the Leonard Cheshire Disability Global Alliance, a membership of over 55 countries. CSU works with and for Persons with Disabilities through four thematic programme areas of Livelihood, Inclusive Education, Advocacy and campaign and Health and rehabilitation. Seeking for a Project Officer-Inclusive Education to work with us.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
•Support the development of the inclusive education teacher training guide.
•Facilitate capacity building training of stakeholders including; Parents, Learning Assistants, Local Leaders and Education Authorities.
•Participate in the assessment of the education and disability needs of girls with disabilities.
•Plan for timely enrolment of girls with disabilities in both lower and upper primary.
•Support school to adjust the delivery of the curriculum to suit children with disabilities.
•Periodically monitor the implementation of the learning assessment tool kit.
•Periodically monitor the learning process and retention of girls with
•Provide continuous guidance and support to learning Assistants and ensure that they are on track.
•Support the school authorities to design and implement Individual Education Plans for girls.
•Support the development of accessible learning and teaching materials.
•Prepare and submit activity and monthly reports to the Project Manager for review.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
•The project officer should hold a Degree in Education, Special and Inclusive Education, Community Based Rehabilitation, Social Science, Development studies.
•A Post Graduate in education related field will be an added advantage.
•A minimum of two years of relevant in implementing education projects.
•Experience working in the development organization and field work experience an asset.
•Previous knowledge in gender mainstreaming required.
•Language requirements: Knowledge of English and the local language,
•Other Personal Competencies: Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, good problem solving, planning and organizing, and customer care skills.
•Additionally, all prospective employees should demonstrate the ability to work in a team, independently with minimum supervision as well as ability to work with Persons with Disabilities.
