In December 2012, Air Uganda attained the highest safety standard in the airline industry, the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Certification.
Job Summary:
The Ground Operations Manager will primarily be responsible for ensuring the safety and security at all airports where Air Uganda operates efficient and economic handling of flights in accordance with regulatory requirements, company policies and relevant authorities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Develop, agree and implement standards of ground handling to meet the needs of the business.
•Negotiate ground handling contracts where necessary to deliver defined standards cost effectively.
•Review the station management system periodically to ensure its continued suitability. Adequacy and effectiveness.
•Responsible for the oversight and routine monitoring of safety and quality critical activities within passenger and airside / ramp operations.
•Implement plans to improve the safety and security of airline operations at Entebbe and throughout the network.
•Perform any other job roles as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
•The applicant should hold a relevant degree in commerce, business administration or a related field.
•At least ten years’ experience in senior managerial roles in a reputable airline.
•Five or more years experience in charge of a recognizable airline hub.
•Hold relevant approved airline courses.
•Strategic aptitude and the ability to plan and implement a strategy for the enhancement of company business.
•Good working knowledge of the aviation industry and all airport ground support facilities
