DAI is an employee-owned global development company. For 40 years, we have worked on the frontlines of international development, tackling fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governments, and instability. Currently, DAI is delivering results that matter in some 60 countries. DAI is preparing for an anticipated programme that will contribute towards sustainable improvements in the livelihoods of the rural poor through increased digital financial inclusion. Digital financial inclusion encompasses all forms of electronic payments, but given the landscape in Uganda, the focus is particularly on using mobile phones as a mechanism for financial transactions and services. Working with public and private stakeholders including BoU, MoF, local telecoms, banks, and MFIs, the programme will coordinate, concentrate, and amplify the efforts of organizations working in financial inclusion in Uganda. The program will facilitate improvements in the digital financial service ecosystem; supporting the development of payments platforms and services that will lead to a wider range of financial services and delivery mechanisms benefitting poor households and micro, small and medium enterprises in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver programme effectively and efficiently, working closely with public and private sector actors in Uganda;
Develop detailed programme strategy, business plan and budget;
Oversee programme activities, including substantial grants management, and provide quality control of deliverables;
Manage team of long- and short-term experts;
Deliver key programme reports and workplans;
Coordinate effectively with key stakeholders and partners to ensure programme participation; and
Make certain value for money and delivery of results.
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
An Advanced degree in finance, business management or other relevant field;
At least 10 years of experience working in private sector development, at least five of which focusing on access to finance issues (digital access to finance desirable);
Extensive experience working in Uganda or the region;
Proven track-record of delivering successful donor-funded programmes;
Proven experience facilitating coalitions to advance financial inclusion;
Strong team leadership, communication and management experience;
Significant networking and relationship management skills;
Understand key approaches to M&E, including use of logical frameworks; and
Fluency in English.
