The Organization

CAF Uganda (CAF U) is registered as a local organization in Uganda, dedicated to limiting suffering of HIV-impacted children and families. It provides comprehensive HIV/AIDS treatment, care, and support and prevention services through effective programming, integration, decentralization, strategic partnerships/collaboration and referral linkages. CAF U is committed to a cost-effective, innovative and sustainable model for the scale up of national HIV programs, Health Systems Strengthening and harmonization with Ministry Of Health guidelines and the Government of Uganda policy of Public Private Partnerships for Health.

CAF U is supporting four HIV treatment sites providing more than 24,000 clients with services including: HCT, ART and care, TB diagnosis and treatment, PWP, OI management, BCC, OVC care and support, HMIS, nutrition and food security, community and adherence outreach, and HSS. The sites also provide inoculations for the surrounding community; FP services; cervical cancer, diabetes and hypertension screening and treatment. The HIV treatment sites are Family Hope Centre Kampala (FHCK) and Family Hope Centre Jinja (FHCJ), Kabwohe Clinical Research Centre (KCRC), Alive Medical Services, Namugongo Fund for Special Children, Nurture Africa, and Bushenyi Medical Centre (BMC).
CAF Uganda is in the process of filling the following positions available at the CAF Uganda office and treatment sites:

Medical officers (2- Kampala & Jinja); reports to the clinic head; will provide day today clinic care to CAF Uganda clients, review the medical needs of patients, monitoring delivery of patient services, planning for space allocation, acting as liaison with patients, and hospitals. Work closely with the Heads of Departments and other clinical specialists, to put in place processes which ensure seamless and smooth delivery of care to our patients.
Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery from a recognized University/ Institution must have experience in the management of and/or advanced training in HIV/ AIDS, with at least 3 years experience in clinical practice, is registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.

Service Objectives:
The Supply Chain Management Specialist will provide technical leadership and management oversight over the implementation of the supply chain management (SCM) process which includes the planning of procurement, inventory control, logistics and distribution to ensure that every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and interruption of stock in the health sector as it relates to all CDC Uganda programs.

Task Requirements:
Attend and provide technical expertise during CDC and PEPFAR public health, technical, policy and strategic planning meetings with collaborators. Provide guidance and direction to grantees, program collaborators and contractors on management and implementation of supply chain management activities to ensure they are consistent with PEPFAR and international policies and guidance. Also serves as a member and advisor on the USG interagency technical teams to strengthen linkages and coordination of supply chain and laboratory commodity procurement services to improve activities within USG PEPFAR programs and at national level.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other relevant team members and partners, participates in identifying and prioritizing capacity development activities for strengthening national, district and regional-level health care supply chains, and building expertise in developing, implementing, and monitoring appropriate training and supervision programs.

Coordinates and manages the commodity pipelines to ensure that there are no interruptions in stock, expiries, or other supply chain problems for critical medicines and other health products; makes recommendations related to the proper management of commodities and for the overall security of medical commodities.

Provides technical assistance to the MOH for the quantification of critical medicines and products including the establishment of information systems to assure availability of data necessary for adequate quantification; assesses training needs regarding specific supply chains for major diseases and programs as defined by the MOH to address key challenges in current supply chain management and pharmaceutical logistics. In collaboration with the MOH, ensures that staff is trained and has required skills in collecting data from health facilities, processing the data to forecast future needs, and converting the requirements into a supply plan for future financial year. Provide support to the Quality Assurance Coordinator in the introduction of the SLMTA module for procurement and supply chain management.

Assists MOH and other partners with balancing resources, requirements, goals, objectives, plans, and operational techniques across Supply Chain (SC) material management elements, including supplier relationship management, customer relationship management, and risk management. Works with other specialists, such as the Health Management and Information Systems (HMIS) Specialist, in the development and deployment of appropriate logistics management information systems that support the planning and monitoring of supply chain operations to accurately report, quantify, forecast and submit timely drug and laboratory supplies requisitions to MOH to avoid interruption of service delivery. Provides technical assistance to strengthen E-ordering system for lab, antiretrovirus, opportunistic infections drugs, SMC kits and related commodities, and supports MoH to roll out Laboratory Information Management Systems and Pharmaceutical Information Management Systems.

Provides technical assistance to assess current health SCM practices, and develop action plans and recommendations to address priority issues to improve effectiveness of related supply chain. Performs assessment and implementation of strategies and techniques to achieve optimized material flow through output, costs, and customer service levels; performs material management quality assessments to assist MOH and implementing partner to implement, execute, and optimize SC techniques and processes. Supports implementing partners to strengthen facility level supply chain management systems.

Provides technical assistance to strengthen/develop standard operating procedures for inventory management and other aspects of supply chain management that will assure the availability and quality of medicine, laboratory and other commodities; designs or implements supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new opportunities, or cost reduction strategies. Identifies public and private sector supply chain management models and recommends possible complimentary and/or collaborating opportunities through a public private partnership (PPP) which will increase efficiency of service delivery while strengthening the emerging role of private sector in health; uses SC business practices, rules, data collection, and performance measurement techniques.

Minimum Qualifications and/or Certifications:
• Master’s degree in either Supply Chain, Logistics Management, Public Administration, Public Health, International Development, Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Finance, Nursing, Medicine or Health Services Administration is required.
• Five to Seven years progressively responsible experience in pharmaceutical services, logistics or supply chain management in limited resource settings.

VOLUNTEER IN THE FIELD

This is a new initiative created to expand charity: water’s presence on the ground and improve the flow of project information to and from the field. The program offers qualified volunteers the opportunity to take an active role in helping charity: water monitor and report on existing charity: water projects. Current placements are available for 3 volunteers in Ethiopia, Liberia and Uganda.

This is an unpaid volunteer position. Volunteers are required to fund their entire experience. charity: water will provide travel insurance and a modest stipend for in-country transportation. We estimate you’ll need at least $5,000 to fund your participation in this program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
You’ll conduct site visits to charity: water projects to assess project function, verify reporting information and take photos.

You’ll coordinate and fund all program components and logistics leading up to and during deployment.

MUST HAVES:

Duties
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the university and represent the university nationally , regionally and internationally
Be the academic and administrative head of the university ;
Coordinate the development and implementation of the academic and administrative policies of the university in accordance with the University’s Strategic Plan ;

Qualifications
Be at least 40 years old.
Be holder of an earned PhD from a recognized university and should be a Full Professor (or Associate Professor ) of exemplary performance record.
Have at least six years of academic and research experience and demonstrated leadership skills in an academic and/or research institution (at least 4 years at the level of Associate Professor and above )
Should have published in internationally recognized peer reviewed journals, and extensively presented in international conferences
Have excellent administration, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills .

Key Duties and Responsibilities;
 Supervises and participates in the preparation of a wide variety of foodstuffs.
 Estimates food needs, reviews inventory to assure that adequate supplies are available,
 Requisitions food and other supplies from stockroom or commissary.
 Does skilled cooking and food preparation.
 Coordinates food service activities to have meals prepared at scheduled time.
 Supervises storage and use of leftover foodstuffs and uncooked products.
 Inspects, supervises and participates in the cleaning of kitchens.
 Trains and instructs employees in cooking, food preparation and food handling techniques; supervises subordinate cooks during a minor portion of the employee’s work time, where duties including assigning, reviewing and evaluating work.
 Packages and freezes samples of all served food to comply with health regulations.
 Operates all food service equipment and machinery.

Minimum Attributes
 Two to Five years’ experience as a Chef
 A creative interest in food and cookery.
 The ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions
 High standards of cleanliness and hygiene
 The ability to organize and plan your own work and that of others
 Strong communication skills
 Leadership and management skills
 The ability to control a budget and work with figures
 Stamina with the ability to cope in a hot and busy kitchen
 The ability to deal calmly with unexpected situations and crises.
