Job Description:
Reports to: Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development & External Relations)
Duties and Responsibilities
•Address specific facility needs.
•Develop maintenance plans.
•Support campus construction projects.
•Review project progress to recognize and resolve safely, schedule, and quality or cost issues.
•Leverage campus maintenance personnel to address current needs of the facilities.
•Oversee maintenance campus equipment t maximize their usage.
•Establish preventive maintenance programs to maximize reliability and to achieve or exceed life experiences.
•Benchmark performance of each facility to identify areas and establish methods of improvements.
•Oversee grounds and facility maintenance for campus; identify and coordinate necessary improvements, such as painting, landscaping, paving, etc
•Define scope of carpentry work with stakeholders in each department and faculty to develop schedule and oversee quality of work
•Develop maintenance and capital projects budget for the campus that is cost effective and supervise/maintenance schedule review and alert, provides high level service; monitor spending to budget and take appropriate action related to attaining budget.
•Ensure parts purchases and services fall within budget guidelines.
•Establish common procedures for processing projects requests across the campus.
•Deploy campus resources within maintenance to ensure timely completion of projects
•To make sure that utilities and other services provided are up and running on timely basis.
Preferred Skills:
Qualifications and experience
•Master’s degree from a recognized institution (Preferred Architect/Engineer)
•A good Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution
•An Architect/Engineer will be an added advantage
•Should have at least five (5) years prior experience in a senior position of leadership and management post Masters Degree in the relevant field
•Demonstrated Christian Leadership who confesses Christ and affirms the Instruments of Identity of the University
•Skills that the Director Facilities and Capital Projects should poses
•As a Director, you are expected to have relevant and effective leadership and management skills to address the emerging various challenges and contribute to the University success.
•Have critical leadership skills to maintain leadership with contractors, be innovative and have practical tools to help you add value and contribute to achieving the University objectives.
•Ability to work with all departments and faculties of the Universality and reflect an outstanding work ethic in the function of operations, technical services, property management and estates responsibilities.
Work Related Expectations and Competencies
•Is expected to have the knowledge in client relations management and make sure that the existing and new partnerships promote efficiency such as contractors, security agencies and other service providers.
•Is expected to manage team of dynamic technical individuals and promote a healthy work environment.
•Practical knowledge, skills and competencies to enable you address the challenge of managing physical infrastructure, facilities, building and properties of the University.
